Fresher & Firkin closed for conversion to a Bass It's A Scream student theme bar.
McMullens applied for planning permission for the former Arts Cinema site.
4th Starbucks opened (Fitzroy St.) - showing the influence of brands these days.
Summer/Autumn 2000
Bar Coast renamed Quay Bar.
(The 1st Starbucks in Waterstones, Bridge St., branded as its Seattle Coffee Co. subsidiary, was replaced by another coffee franchise. This Waterstones then closed around June 2001.)
Sep 2000
Greene King's major refurbishment of the Castle, next door to the Regal, completed.
Charles Wells tried to join in by revamping the Ancient Druids (Napier Street) into Bar Citrus.
Oct 2000
Bass reopened the Fresher and Firkin as The Graduate.
Jun 2001
Parisa Cafe Bar and Borders (including the 5th Starbucks) opened.
Oct 2001
Cambridge Pub Co. converting former Pierre Victoire restaurant.
The Mitre was refurbished in the trendy style.
