They took over around 1996 a pub built to one of the classic 1920/1930s pub designs. It's still largely unspoiled, retaining the division into a Public Bar and a Lounge Bar with comfy seating.
In June the Public Bar reopened as a cyberbar, with PCs for Internet access.
There's also a rear bar for events, with a wide variety of music and comedy.
The pub takes full advantage of the Greene King guest beer portfolio - for instance Jennings Cocker Hoop was available in March - and takes the GK seasonals. It was one of the first places to start stocking Greene King XX Dark Mild at the start of the current revival.
Food is important here, with a wide range of excellent pub grub.
