31st Cambridge Beer Festival Programme :

31st Cambridge Beer Festival Programme
Welcome to the 6th Foreign Bar of the Cambridge Beer Festival.
This year we are running on a D-Day theme.
My grandfather, Louis Buchet, died back in December
and as he was a Normandy veteran, I thought this would be a nice tribute to him.
Also this bar has some of the best beers from the main countries after D-Day.
There have been quite a few changes in the beer range again this year.
We are trying to get a few specials, and will hopefully feature a draught Lambic,
some Rochfort 6 and some very good beers from Holland.
We will also hopefully be seeing some Czech beers this year.
We have also expanded the Belgian range a little this year, as
a large amount of research has been done,
so hopefully we will have a proper sour brown this year, as well as two brown beer based sour Krieks, and some special ales.
Enjoy!
Ron Buchet
P.S. Don't forget to ask for a copy of the Foreign Beer Bar Booklet.
Now for the bad bit:
The Bar Rules to be obeyed please!
- No drinking from the bottle.
- All beer will be poured into your glass. No glass, no service.
- Bottles do not leave the bar opened.
This is a safety measure designed to protect you, as well as the bottle costing us a deposit.
- Please do not ask to take an opened bottle away from the bar as a refusal often offends.
- Also, you can take away unopened bottles, but
only if you are leaving the festival after buying them and only at lunchtimes.
- If you want some put by, then we will do this for you, and keep them for you until you leave.
Please note there will be no takeaway service in the evenings as we are too busy.
- Enjoy yourselves.
If you have any questions, and we are not busy, then please ask.
The staff like talking about beer !!!.
If you find some beers you like, you can get them in Cambridge.
Just visit Bacchanalia (the Jug and Firkin) in Mill Road.
If he doesn't have it then he might be able to get it for you.
Alternatively you could try the Beers of Europe warehouse at Setchey, near Kings Lynn.
Also, if you are visiting the Low Countries or Amsterdam in the near future, please check out the
Products stand for Tim Webb's
Guide to Belgium and Holland, and
Hugh Shipman's Serious Drinkers Guide to Amsterdam.
There is also a CAMRA Guide to Northern France.
Finally this week CAMRA is also celebrating Veggie Beers for Veggie Week!
