Outstanding Service Award

CAMRA's twenty-five years of campaigning has been recognised by the pub industry's "Oscars" - the annual awards run by The Publican newspaper. On 26 March, before an audience of 1500 guests, Publican editor Kate Oppenheim presented CAMRA Chairman John Cryne with CAMRA's award for outstanding services to the industry.

Thc judges cited CAMRA's work in saving real ale, crcating a climate where real ale pubs and small brewers could flourish, and campaigns on beer duty, licensing hours and children in pubs.

John Cryne said "I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of members of CAMRA, both past, and present. The Publican Awards are an industry showcase, so obviously we value this splendid recognition and support.

"We are an established force in the industry, representing the consumer viewpoint. However, I am sure you will agree, we should never allow ourselves to become Establishment!"
