It isn't rocket science to be able to handle decent beer at these events. I know the excuse that often they are only on for a single day, but any brewer will presumably give a large event sale or return, so the waste is limited as long as the beer has not been spiled; for those events where the beer has to be moved, bright beer is a real option. I know of one local specialist outside bar company which will not run a bar unless real ale is being served, and they have events large and small queuing up to use their services - the Soham Carnival, Isleham Gala, and Little Shelford Weekend to name but three. If they can do it, why can't the big stadiums? The only way to make this change is by making your voice heard whenever the organizers ask the question about the quality of their facilities.
The world famous Cambridge Beer Festival will be with us very shortly. It is with great regret that I will only make the first and last days due to it clashing with the London Wine Trade Fair, so I will not be able to pull many pints at the third largest beer festival in the country. We need all the help we can get at this event, so I urge anyone who cherishes this show to think about giving a hand. Helpers do not get paid, but are very well looked after.
