The Devonshire Arms reopened in January as a Milton Brewery pub, their fifth one and the
first in Cambridge.
The
Dev closed in early December for an extensive refurbishment.
Once memorably described as a "seedy Rastafarian dive",
it was obvious that changes had to be made.
The revamped pub now has two bars. The soaring high-ceilinged front bar
has lots of dark wood, Victorian details and a gloriously over-the-top chandelier.
The spacious and comfortable back bar is complete with a wood-burning stove
and opens onto a small garden area.
Plans are progressing for a kitchen as soon as practicable.
Nine handpumps dispense Milton beers, microbrewery guests and a cider.
The Devonshire is the only pub in Cambridge to stock the
rare and excellent Moravka lager.
The pub is run by Dom & Jo, familiar faces from the Elm Tree.
It's a great new addition to the real ale scene and is already
popular with rail travellers, being so close to the station.
