Last year we had two new breweries in the area. This year we have another one – BlackBar, recently opened in Harston and first seen at the Winter Ale Festival in January. Those beers will be joining another 200 or so, from both our local breweries and those more distant from Cambridge. On top of that, our foreign beer bar will have bottled and draught beer from all over the world.

Alongside the beers we’ll have around 60 ciders and perries, including some from new producers in East Anglia. We’ll have wine from our festival regulars Chilford Hall, and mead from around the country.

Every year the festival supports a local charity. This year we’re supporting Wallace Cancer Care. Based in and near Addenbrooke’s Hospital, they provide support and complementary therapies for cancer sufferers, carers and families. With your support they’ll be able to continue providing these vital services for free.

You’re probably aware that the festival is organised and staffed entirely by volunteers. We always need more staff, both on the bars and behind the scenes – glasses, the front entrance, the site team, stewarding, looking after the beers. Whether you want to be on site from the moment we first open the gate on the Green or just a few hours one evening, we’d very much like you to come along and volunteer. The shift in the bank holiday this year (it’s the Diamond Jubilee a week after we close) means we’ll be particularly short staffed when it comes to take the festival down – so if you can help then that would be most welcome.
