Our flagship activity is the series of Ale Trails we've organised and which feature in this issue. We hope that local drinkers will take this opportunity to visit pubs which may be unfamiliar to them but all of which sell great beer and offer a warm welcome.

On 23 April, we're holding our first ever Awards Evening, at the University Social Club, Mill Lane, Cambridge. We'll be presenting awards to our Pub of the Year and Real Ale Champion and also several new awards such as LocAle Pub of the Year, Cider/Perry Pub of the Year and a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Master of Ceremonies will be Roger Protz, editor of the Good Beer Guide and author of many books on real ale and pubs. Attendance is by ticket only and if you'd like to be there, please contact the editor.

13 April sees us embark on a Tour of Destruction, aimed at highlighting the horrific rate of pub closures in Cambridge over recent years. A minibus will take Branch members on a “dry” pub crawl round the many city locals currently closed and facing an uncertain future.

Local pubs will also be holding various events during the month and we'll publicise these on our Branch website.
